Title: Character degrees of some maximal class p-groups
Abstract: In their book "The Structure of Groups of Prime Power Order",
C.R. Leedham-Green and S. McKay describe an approach to constructing 
certain types of maximal class p-groups using the ring of integers
in a local cyclotomic number field. By implementing these computations 
(in Magma), I've been able to explore possible commutator structures,
especially as they relate to some character degree questions.  
This talk will look at the computations and some of the results.
