Student Algebra Seminar: Mangalath -- The Chern character

Vishnu Mangalath will give the Seminar's tenth talk in Semester 2 tomorrow afternoon

Title: The Chern character 

Abstract: In this lecture we will define the Chern character, which gives us a
convenient homomorphism from K-theory to ordinary singular cohomology.  As an
application, we will see that the tangent bundle of an even-dimensional sphere does not
admit a complex structure.
