Twisted K-theory and representations of loop groups.
Friday 28th July, 12-1pm, Carslaw 275.
String theorists have recently revived interest in twisted
versions on K-theory which were studied long ago by Karoubi, Donovan,
and others. A striking application of a pure mathematical nature which
has been discovered recently by Freed, Hopkins, and Teleman is to
describe the representation ring of a loop group as the twisted
equivariant K-theory of a space.
