The cohomology of toral complements
Friday 1st June, 12-1pm,
Carslaw 159.
Toral complements can be considered as non-linear versions of
hyperplane complements and arise naturally in the study of linear
algebraic groups as the set of regular semisimple elements (in some
maximal torus). In this talk we will describe a method for computing the
cohomology of such spaces and discuss some applications related to
regular semisimple elements.
