Metric properties about the family of Thompson's groups
Thompson's groups have appeared in many areas of mathematics, and have attracted considerable attention, due to their striking properties. In this talk, I will give an introduction to the family of groups, and I will give some results relating to the word metric in their Cayley graphs. Recently, higher-dimensional analogs of these groups have been described by Brin, so I will present their structure, generating sets (finite and infinite), and metric properties as well.
