Asymptotic growth in Baumslag-Solitar groups

In 1997 R. Grigorchuk proposed computing the growth series for the Baumslag-Solitar group BS(2,3). After 25 years, this remains an open problem. After a review of basic geometric group theory and growth series, we will bring the audience up to date concerning recent results, including yet to be published work.
