Abstract

The talk concerns new results on the metric character of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation with obstacle (HJO). We will introduce an explicit formula of game theory type for an intrinsic distance showing how the Hamilton-Jacobi equation sorts out some kind of least worst strategy to handle the obstacle. Some applications concerning the shapes of an overflowing sandpile and a brimful lake over an arbitrary landscape of varying height.
