From Gian Francesco Giudice Theoretical Physics Department, CERN It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Ludwig Faddeev. He will always be remembered for his great contributions to quantum field theory, from the work with Popov on quantisation of non-abelian gauge theories, to quantum solitons and quantum integrable systems. His extraordinary achievements have been recognised by numerous prizes, including the Dannie Heineman Prize, the ICTP Dirac Medal, the Henri Poincare Prize, Shaw Prize, Lomonosov Medal, and the Max Planck Medal.
