Magma Mondays workshop is a series of engaging, hands-on meetings aimed to teach Magma to mathematicians at all stages; in particular, no background in coding/computers required! Magma is a computational algebra system that specializes in computational algebra, number theory, algebraic geometry, and algebraic combinatorics. It’s an incredibly useful tool for (tricky) computations, developing intuition, and making conjectures from examples. This workshop is the first of several, and will focus on getting started with Magma; starting from installation, and explaining the basics. If you haven’t used Magma before, you’re highly encouraged to come to this before the workshops in the following weeks. Students at all levels are especially encouraged to join.
