There will be two Algebra Seminars on Friday 23 September, the first by Slava Futorny at the usual time and the second at 2:35pm by Hua-Lin Huang. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Speaker: Slava Futorny (University of Sao Paulo) Date: Friday 23 September Time: 12:05-12:55pm Venue: Carslaw 175 Title: Torsion theories and corresponding representations Abstract: We will discuss torsion theories for representations of an important class of associative algebras which includes all finite W-algebras of type A, in particular the universal enveloping algebra of gl(n) for all n. If U is such an algebra which contains a finitely generated commutative subalgebra G, then the coheight of the associated prime ideals of G is an invariant of a given simple U-module. This implies a stratification of the category of U-modules controlled by the coheight of associated prime ideals of G.This approach allows in particular to study representations of gl(n) beyond the classical category of weight or generalized weight modules. The talk is based on recent joint results with S.Ovsienko (Kiev) and M.Saorin (Murcia). --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Speaker: Hua-Lin Huang (Shandong University) Date: Friday 23 September Time: 2:35-3:25pm Venue: Carslaw 175 Title: Quasi-quantum groups and tensor categories: a quiver approach Abstract: I report some results obtained, partly jointly with Gongxiang Liu and Yu Ye, within a quiver approach to quasi-quantum groups and tensor categories. I will first introduce the general quiver framework, then apply it to the classification problem of finite quasi-quantum groups, and finally I discuss some applications, in particular to finite tensor categories. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
