In celebration of the first ever ‘Women in Mathematics Day’ - the Faculty of Science at UTS will be hosting an industry panel of female mathematical experts.
May 12th marks the birthday of mathematical mastermind, Maryam Mirzakhani and will now be celebrated around the world as Women in Mathematics Day. The goal of the day is to inspire women everywhere to celebrate their achievements in mathematics, and to encourage an open, welcoming and inclusive work environment for everybody.
About the event: The UTS event is hosted by the Faculty of Science and the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences. The Dean of the Faculty, Professor Dianne Jolley, will open the event, followed by an expert panel of women from an array of sectors including mathematics, statistics, education, schools, finance, comedy, games, engineering, health and crime.
Who should attend: Anyone with an interest in mathematics is welcome. Come and find out about the wide variety of careers that are open to those with mathematical training. Refreshments will be provided.
