Hello SUMS members, I apologise once again for the lateness of this message. I have had several requests and offers for talks (with some quite interesting subject matter too I must add), so it took me and the executives quite a while to decide which one to hold this week. In the end (and after discussions with a few SUMS members) we thought bugger it, stuff the talks, we’ll play soccer instead. Anyway, 3 talks in a row is something we’re trying to avoid (we don’t want you guys to think we’re that tedious). So come all to Victoria Park (it’s the big green area near Carslaw. The green stuff is called grass). Don’t worry if your coordination skills are lacking, I guarantee that all skill levels will be present (except really, really good). There might even be some Nerds FC players, and we all know it doesn’t get much worse than that in terms of ability...... Plus, we’ll be playing Pure vs Applied (stats can pick a side), so each area has the opportunity to show the others how REAL MATHEMATICIANS play soccer. Or something along those lines. Bragging rights are not something that should be taken lightly. Event: SUMS Soccer Location: Victoria Park Date/Time: Wednesday, March 25, 1-2pm If it’s raining, we’ll stay in Carslaw 452 and play games/solve cubes/play cards. Yes, I know real mathematicians play soccer in all weather conditions, but nobody turns up when it rains. In any case, I hope to see you on Wednesday.
