Dear colleagues, I would like to draw your attention to the workshop "Computational Aspects of Totally Disconnected Locally Compact groups" taking place in Newcastle, Australia, from 24th October to 28th October 2022. The aim of the workshop is to bring together experts from four fields of mathematics: permutation groups, algorithmic group theory, numerical analysis, and formal systems and logic, to develop a basis for a framework of computation in totally disconnected locally compact groups and the approximation thereof. The workshop will include short mini-courses given by invited speakers: Bettina Eick, Technische Universität Braunscheig; Alexander Hulpke, Colorado State University; Andre Nies, University of Auckland; Katrin Tent; University of Muenster. Please see the webpage for more detail: https://zerodimensional.group/conferences/catdlc/ Due to limited venue capacity, we may need to restrict the total number of attendees - allocation of places will be based on merit. If you are interested in attending, please lodge an expression of interest (EOI) as soon as possible via the webpage, or directly via https://zerodimensional.group/conferences/catdlc/eoi/ Feel free to forward this message to anyone who might be interested in the workshop. Sincerely, Michal Ferov (w/ Heiko Dietrich, Melissa Lee, and George Willis)
