Algebra Seminar: Tubbenhauer -- Monoidal categories, representation gap and cryptography
Daniel Tubbenhauer (University of Sydney)
Friday 18 March, 12-1pm, Place: Carslaw 275
Title: Monoidal categories, representation gap and cryptography
Abstract: If you do not know what the notions in the title have in common, then this is
your talk: a friendly overview explaining how cryptography suggests interesting (and
somewhat unconventional) questions in representation theory. The talk is based on a
joint project with M. Khovanov and M. Sitaraman; a project that is pretty much in
progress. Any kind of feedback, ideas, suggestions, whatever, are very welcome.
